my favorite music for a cozy life

Music is a piece of art that goes in the ears, straight to the heart.
 ~ Unknown ~

Music is one of those things that can add so very much to your life, your day, to a single moment. While I am certainly not gifted in any musical area, I am a lover of music. I nearly always listen to music when I'm cooking, cleaning, working on a project, or writing. There are certain songs that I associate with specific memories or moments of my life. There are songs that uplift, songs that comfort, songs that tell me I'm not the only one and that I'm not alone, songs that make me feel alive, songs that settle, songs that energize. There is literally a song for everything.

Over the course of my life, my taste in music has changed greatly. I first got into music on my own when I was a preteen and listened to Disney Channel's singers and, though I'm a bit embarrassed to admit, I was a huge fan of Hannah Montana. Now I cringe even just mentioning that. Hee! From there, I moved on to country music, and while I still enjoy some country music from the 90s, 2000s and early 2010s, the more recent country music isn't my taste in the least. From there, I went on to Christian/religious music. This caused me much distress and burden and so I was thankful when I left that music behind. I found it way too serious and heavy and unhealthy for my mind. As a 20-year-old, I discovered the world of Celtic and Irish trad music, and it is there that I found my heart and soul. That is truly the music of my bones and inner heart and it's just...me. And a few years back, I discovered something else that I never thought I would be interested in and that is instrumental music. Having that music find its way to my heart was like a gift. It, too, is the sound of my heart, the music of my soul. And it is within those two styles of music that I have found my "home". I do also enjoy a selection of Ed Sheeran songs as well as One Direction, which is the sound of my youth. The music of a few favorite musicals also brings me much delight, as well as some of the pop/opera crossover music, which I find to be great fun. I love music that makes me feel something, so all of the music shared here today definitely fits under that description.

And a big part of the cozy life for me is music. Today I thought I would share a selection of my favorites...I do so hope you enjoy!

I also must mention that a couple months ago, my sister and I compiled a HUGE playlist of all our favorite songs from our childhood and teen years. We also included lots of old music that we adore by the musical greats who have passed on. And there's some really fun music from our favorite movies, both in our younger years as well as currently. It's just playlist of almost 200 songs currently (it continues to grow) and I can't even say how much fun it is to listen to. I didn't include many songs from the above-mentioned singers/selections because the music on the playlist is mostly stand-alone songs that we enjoy and not the artists or albums that I listen to in their fullness. For my favorites listed above, I will usually always listen to one of their CDs that I shared in full. But for a bunch of random songs, a playlist is the way to go! I highly recommend making a playlist collection like that if you want something just really incredibly fun!

I'd love to hear what your favorite music for the cozy life is? Do share!
