simply homemade pasta sauce ♥ a family favorite

Good morning, reader friends!

Today I have an absolute, hands-down, family favorite recipe to share with you all! You're for sure going to want to make this in your own home as soon as possible!

We've always eaten marinara sauce from a jar. And while it's good, something always felt lacking to me. So for the last few years on and off I would try recipes here and there in hopes of finding a homemade marinara sauce recipe that we all loved. This is the recipe. It's so delicious and it's incredibly simple and easy to make. Really, it doesn't take much more time to pull this together than it does to open a jar, pour it into a pan, and heat it up. And it tastes SO much better! I make it for spaghetti, other types of pasta, and even baked spaghetti...no matter how you use it, it's divine! And the kitchen smells amazing whilst it simmers on the stove. You can't go wrong with this recipe!

Simply Homemade Pasta Sauce

1/2 medium onion, finely diced
2 tsp. minced garlic
28 ounce can whole tomatoes
15 ounce can diced tomatoes
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried thyme
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf

In a blender, pour the entire can of whole tomatoes, along with all the liquid and blend until smooth. Set aside until later.

In a skillet, drizzle about a tablespoon or two of olive oil and sauté the diced onion until translucent. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.

Add all the remaining ingredients to the skillet, including the pureed tomatoes in the blender. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20-30 minutes.

Remove the bay leaf before serving.

Add cooked and drained pasta of choice to the skillet and toss with the sauce or top your favorite cooked pasta with this yummy sauce.

For baked spaghetti, simply toss sauce with cooked pasta to a 9x13 inch casserole dish, top with vegan cheese (or vegan cheese sauce) and bake at 350*F until bubbly and the cheese is melted.

Serve your pasta with a simple garden salad and Enjoy!
