Warm, autumn greetings to you! I'm so glad that you've come by for a visit...
today's Saturday ramble takes me back four years to a quick getaway my family took to...
Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Oh, this was a splendid little overnight trip! We spent most of our time either walking the hidden paths like the one pictured above, walking through the downtown popping in a few shops here and there, or driving through the hills admiring the vast beauty. It was a misty, chilly day...that I remember well. And a decent fog had set in the higher we got up the hill/mountain. Definitely jacket and scarf weather, for sure.
People often say "the world has become disenchanted." This isn't true. The world is as full as ever of wonder, mystery, and mirth. It is we who are disenchanted. Our vision has grown dim, our hearing dull. But listen! You might be surprised what glory you find.

The autumnal colors were at their peak during our visit, and my oh my, did they meet our expectations. There were leaves gently gracing the paths in the forest and the misty rain made it feel so magical and full of whimsy.
Whilst walking around downtown, we stumbled across this adorable little alcove that had rows of benches. I'm not quite sure what this area is used for, but I can imagine how lovely it would be with a few musicians playing some gorgeous tunes...seems perfect to me.
God wants you to be fully aware of every breath of air you take, every bite of food, every smile from a baby, every word you read, every song you hear, every kiss on the lips. God loves ordinary things.

There was a lookout tower at the top of one mountain...however, we did not go up the tower. I'm afraid that's not my sort of thing, and certainly not my idea of fun...more like what my nightmares are made of! Ha!
One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvellous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day.

Look at the view of the city from the top of the mountain...
There is something incredibly nostalgic and significant about the annual cascade of autumn leaves.

We always have dinner at a particular restaurant on the lake when we visit Hot Springs, and on the way, we pulled off to admire the tranquillity that the water offers.
The whole world is a series of miracles but we're so used to them we call them ordinary things.
And onward towards home we went...a perfect 24 hours away. Filled with tremendous beauty, laughter and memories made. Somehow the misty rain and fog made it all the more fun and memorable!
Thank you for rambling through Hot Springs with me...next week, we'll be sticking a little closer to home. In fact, I'll be taking you on a garden walk through our yard. I hope you'll join me!
Have a splendid day!
