Everything is magical when it snows. Everything looks pretty...
It's just my favorite time of year. The whole world changes color.
Flakes, flurries, swirls, crystals, whatever form it comes in, I'll take it.
We go back, snow and me, we have a beautiful history.
Sleigh rides, ice skating, snow ball fights. I'll even take curling.
God, I love curling. Hot cocoa, hot totes, best time of the year.

Hello, dear friends!
Last week was a snowy week where I live. We haven't had barely enough snow to just cover the ground in six years so it was high time that we got a good dumping of snow from the sky. And a dumping did we get! It started out as ice and over the next eight days or so, we ended up with twelve inches of snow. Where I live, that is a blizzard and it even broke a few records too. We were in the single digits temperature wise for several days and it was glorious! I'm one who loves the snow (the more the better) and cold temps...I loathe our brown, dead, mild winters with a strong passion. Looking outside at a beautiful blanket of white suits me much more than looking at brown and deadness.
We enjoyed getting outside each and every day it snowed. We rambled through our garden and took plenty of photos. It was just so magical and wonderful to be in the snow again. Each day putting on layers of cozy clothing and slipping on boots before stepping outdoors became the norm for the entire week. I even got to use my most recent knitting project and it came in quite handy, too. Too many winters our scarves and hats and mittens don't get any use, but last week it was different. A good different.
For the outfit in this post, I'm wearing a simple navy blue dress that is so versatile. I love wearing it with sneakers or sandals in the warmer weather and when it's colder outside, leggings and boots and a jacket are the perfect matches. This photo was taken on the first day of our snowy week...so the ground is just barely covered. The next day, however, I couldn't wear these boots because they were too short.

Where we live, the cities aren't prepared as to how to handle snow that is more than a ground covering, there were some challenges that came along. We had to conserve and boil our water for a week. That meant we could take showers as long as they were quick, quick, quick. It made washing laundry and dishes impossible and cooking meals a wee bit challenging. Thankfully, we didn't have near the problems that came up in Texas and other parts of the country. But I must say, it sure is nice not having to boil our water anymore. I'll savour my hot showers that last longer than five minutes a bit more I think. {{smiles}}
It was the middle of winter. The sun had just set and it was very, very cold. An icy wind was blowing from the East and the wind promised snow.
Deep in the dark roots of Brambly Hedge tiny lights appeared as lamps were lit in the windows. More little lights could be seen leaving the Stone Stump, moving hastily along the hedgerow and disappearing into holes hidden in the twisty roots. The mice had smelled snow in the air and were all hurrying home to a nice hot supper by the fire.

Magical snowy days bring cozy nights, naturally. And cozy nights bring warm, comforting dinners. We had so many soups and stews over our snowy week. Homemade Dutch oven bread was also a must to accompany our creamy chicken and vegetable soup on one night. Eating by candlelight seemed most appropriate as we left the shutters opened so we could enjoy the soft glow that the snow made even long after the sun had set.
We'd end each night cuddled up on the couch with lots of blankets, wearing our warmest pajamas and thickest socks, usually watching an episode of The Amazing Race (we're nearly done watching the entire series!) or a crime drama. It was most delightful, I must say.
Thank you for joining me here this week, friends! I hope your weekend is lovely in every way!
Stay cozy!
