Well, friends, September is finally here! And that means that autumn is officially on her way...some folks even consider the first of September the first day of autumn. I stick to the date on the calendar, this year's being September 22nd, as the official first day of autumn. But today is certainly the unofficial start, and I'm ready to celebrate!
In our home, we are making room for autumn with lots of deep cleaning and tidying up and organizing of things. We are breaking out the coziest blankets and pumpkin decorations and seasonal coffee mugs and the comfort food recipes. It's all coming out in full force in our house! And I couldn't be more excited {{smiles}}
I am also making room for autumn here on my blog...at my Inglenook. You will notice that I have updated my blog header to an autumn-themed one. Most of these photos were taken over the past several years, and a few of them have appeared on autumn blog headers here before. I just can't seem to get enough of some of my favorite photos! And there are a few new ones as well. I'll admit to having just a wee bit of fun last week setting up a mini-photoshoot with a deliciously scented candle, some cozy books and my knitting needles and crimson colored yarn. I am quite pleased with how the design turned out...I feel it captures the cozy vibes I was going for just perfectly.
Even though summer weather is still very present in my corner of the world, we are enjoying a few breaks here and there, with little teasers of the delightfully cooler days to come. I have noticed the sun is rising later and setting earlier, creating a gorgeous golden light in the late afternoons...all of which set the tone for a cozy, homey season of gathering in.
So...as we continue to make room for autumn, sit here in eager anticipation for those crisp days with cool breezes, soup simmering on the stove whilst homemade bread bakes in the oven, and cups of tea or hot chocolate are slowly sipped in the evening by the fireside and we're all snuggled up in blankets. It's a comin'!
